Dumpling Master Taking Former La Madeleine Space at Providence Square

Dumpling Master is taking over the former La Madeleine space at Providence Square in East Cobb, bringing Chinese dumplings and bubble tea to one of the area’s busiest retail centers.

The restaurant takes the space in a sharply different direction from La Madeleine, which closed in May 2026 after decades in the center. Instead of tomato basil soup, croissants, and French cafe plates, East Cobb is getting soup dumplings, fried rice, and dim sum bites.

Dumpling Master is a Georgia based Chinese restaurant group that opened its first restaurant in Peachtree City in 2024, then expanded quickly across metro Atlanta and beyond. By summer 2026, the brand had restaurants in Peachtree City, Alpharetta, Chamblee, Decatur, Buford, Athens, Snellville, Cumming, Dawsonville, Gainesville, and Midtown Atlanta, with openings on the way in Kennesaw, and several other Georgia locations. That pace is brisk for a restaurant built around dumplings rather than burgers or chicken fingers.

ToNeTo Atlanta first reported the East Cobb location, identifying the incoming restaurant as the next tenant for the former French bakery cafe space.

The restaurant features Chinese comfort food with a heavy focus on dumplings and noodles. The name is not subtle, Dumpling Master’s main draw for many diners is soup dumplings, or Xiao Long Bao, which bring that small burst of flavorful broth that can punish impatience and reward restraint. The food lineup also includes Sheng Jian Bao and pan fried or steamed dumplings, along with noodle soup, Shanghai fried noodles, dim sum bites, fried rice, and bubble tea.

Pan fried or steamed dumplings (top) are the classic Chinese dumplings many American diners know as potstickers when pan fried: a thin wrapper around meat or vegetables, with steamed versions staying soft and pan fried versions getting crisp on the bottom. Xiao long bao (right) are soup dumplings, filled with meat and hot broth inside a delicate wrapper. Sheng jian bao (left) are thicker, yeasted, pan fried Shanghai buns with a juicy filling and browned bottom, similar in spirit to soup dumplings but with more chew and crunch.

At Dumpling Master, customers order by QR code, food arrives by robot delivery, and diners can watch dumplings being made in a visible prep area. It is a modern fast casual setup with a little theater built in, different than the typical takeout Chinese restaurants. The format fits the current wave of casual Chinese restaurants that put handmade noodles or hand finished dumplings at the center of the experience in East Cobb, including Dumpling Garden on Sandy Plains and Handmade Dumplings & Noodles on Johnson Ferry.

The Providence Square location is a visible endcap space with a patio in a shopping center anchored by Home Depot, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Sprouts. Also located in that shopping center are Chicken Salad Chick, Salata, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Subway, Chili’s, Great American Cookie and Marble Slab Ice Cream, and several other quick service and casual dining options.

Dumpling Master is confirmed for Providence Square, but diners will need to wait for the restaurant to announce an opening date, hours, and other details for this location.
