IndiFresh is opening a new Indian grocery store at 4815 Canton Road in Marietta. The new location will occupy the former Rite Aid at the southwest corner of Canton and Jamerson roads.
The new location will be the second Indifresh, with the original supermarket on Atlanta Highway in Cumming. IndiFresh combines a full Indian grocery store with fresh produce, meat, dairy products, frozen foods, bakery goods, and household staples.
Indian ingredients fill the store rather than being confined to a small international aisle. Shoppers can find regional spices, rice, lentils, flours, snacks, sweets, frozen meals, and pantry staples used in Indian cooking.
The supermarket also includes IndiBites, a kitchen offering South Indian breakfast dishes, dosas, biryani, curries, naan, and Indo-Chinese food. The menu includes vada, pongal, Chicken 65, goat curry, paneer dishes, Hakka noodles, and several biryani preparations.
The 14,240 square foot Rite Aid building has remained vacant for several years. In 2023, QuikTrip wanted to demolish it and build a convenience store with fuel pumps, but the surrounding community objected and the company later withdrew the zoning request.
IndiFresh is entering an already competitive market. Patel Brothers operates less than six miles away at 2646 George Busbee Parkway NW in Kennesaw, while Suvidha International Groceries is even closer at 2821 Chastain Meadows Parkway in Marietta. Both already compete for shoppers buying Indian groceries, produce, spices, frozen foods, and prepared dishes.
Once the doors open, shoppers will get a chance to see how it plans to separate itself from Patel Brothers and Suvidha, especially in prepared food, produce, selection, and price.
IndiFresh has not released an opening date or store hours.
