More than 2,000 stadium steps separate participants from the finish at the annual Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park. The distance represents the 110 floors of the World Trade Center towers, with the climb held in memory of the 343 FDNY firefighters who died on September 11, 2001.
The physical challenge is at the heart of the event, giving participants a small sense of the extraordinary distance firefighters faced as they climbed into the World Trade Center towers while thousands of people were trying to escape.
Remembering the FDNY 343
The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund of Georgia hosts the annual climb at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. First responders, families, and other participants can take part, with each person climbing the equivalent of all 110 floors.
Proceeds benefit the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund of Georgia, which assists first responders and their families with medical expenses, emergency financial needs, equipment, training, and other assistance. The organization was established in memory of Terry Farrell, an FDNY Rescue 4 firefighter who died at the World Trade Center on September 11.
25 Years Later
The 2026 event marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks and will include an international contingent. 343 first responders from the United Kingdom and Ireland will travel to Truist Park to participate, matching the number of FDNY firefighters killed that day.
Registration opens at 8 am, with the climb beginning at 9 am. The event runs until around noon.
