Whataburger is officially opening on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 9 am. The first 100 customers will receive free Whataburger swag bags along with either a breakfast Taquito with Cheese or a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Both items are part of the morning lineup, available from 11 pm to 11 am.
Whataburger began in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, when Harmon Dobson set out to create a burger big enough for two hands and flavorful enough to make people exclaim its name. That approach helped a single stand grow into a well-known Southern brand recognized for its orange-and-white design and its loyal following.
Today, the chain continues to build each burger to order using never-frozen beef on a five-inch toasted bun. Guests can customize their order with ease, from grilled jalapeños to extra bacon or a no-tomato setup. The menu includes more than burgers, with salads, chicken options, breakfast options, desserts, shakes/malts, and the restaurant’s well-known Fancy Ketchup that is popular enough to have its own fan base.
Whataburger now spans more than a thousand locations across multiple states. The opening on Sandy Plains brings one of Texas’ most recognizable names to East Cobb, giving locals a new 24-hour stop for breakfast, lunch, late-night cravings, and everything in between.

The Whataburger at 3550 Sandy Plains Rd in Marietta was formerly an O’Charley’s location. After sitting vacant for nearly two years, demolition of the O’Charley’s building began in May of 2025 in order to make room for the brand-new Whataburger building. O’Charley’s had been a fixture at that spot since 2001, before closing their doors on June 11, 2023.
